March 7, 2019
Mercedes Benz has unveiled the teaser version of the brand’s electric racing car which will compete for the 2019 – 2020 Formula E season. The concept was revealed at the ongoing Geneva Motor show. Badged as the EQ Silver Arrow 01 concept car will be showcased at the motor show. The car sports a special black and blue combination livery which hints at the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team’s official livery. However, a more constructive and definitive design of the bodywork will only be showcased towards the sixth season of the series that kicks-off towards the later part of 2019.
Speaking about the team and the upcoming event, Toto Wolff, Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport , said, “The countdown to our entry into Formula E has now officially begun. Our team has obviously been working behind the scenes on this project for quite a while now, but when you see the car in our teaser livery for the first time, you know that the project has entered a serious phase. Formula E is going to be a completely new playing field for us. But we are looking forward to the challenge of demonstrating the performance of our intelligent battery-electric drives in motorsport and of giving a positive boost to the EQ brand.”
The brand announced its exit from the DTM back in 2017 and supported the architecture of Formula E. This will be brand’s first season and will take on the likes of Audi and BMW. The 2019 – 2020 will add another competitor on the list alongside the Mercedes Benz, Porsche as a new entry.
