The fourth generation Ssangyong Korando made its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The brand also took the unveiling an opportunity to announce the launch of a fully electric variant of the Koran by the year 2020. The fourth generation Korando is inspired by the e-SIV concept. The concept claims to provide a range of 450 kms while the production s taken care of by a 61.5 kWh battery pack delivering a 191 hp of power via electric motor.
The newest iteration shares its design with other variants in the company’s line up. The overall form factor is neat and formal, giving the SUV a stated look. The front carriers over the signature grille and headlight setup which is neatly laid out. The rear gets a broad wraparound taillamp with three consecutive incremental brake patterns. The looks of the new Korando is much more stated rather than blown out of proportions. The overall the Ssangyong Kornado is a smart looking car.
Upon the launch, the Koran will be offered with a choice of a 1.5 litre, turbo petrol and a 1.6 litre diesel engine. The Koran will be a complete 4×4 setup and will also offer a hybrid setup in coming months from the launch. Wether the four generation Korando will make into Indian shores with a bit of Mahindra rebadging or will the platform be used to develop something radically new from the folks at Mahindra, only time will tell.
