The German car maker had a tough 2018. With low sales figures and limited updation to the line up, the brand was falling a little shortchanged with the Indian customers However, now BMW is now pulling up their stocks and are preparing to launch 12 new models over the span of upcoming 12 months.
To start the year with a bang, the company will be introducing its flagship SUV, BMW X7 on 31st January, 2019. The 5.1 m long X7 comes with all the bells and whistles and will compete against the likes go Mercedes GLS, Ranger Rover Velar.
Next in line for the brand will be the new BMW X4 which will come to India via CKD channel. The part SUV part coupe will be launched with two engines, a 2.0 litre petrol churning 252 bhp and a 3.0 litre diesel producing 265 bhp of power. The X4 will be succeeded by the performance oriented X4M and X3M variants in 2019.
To capture the majority of the entry level premium segment in India, BMW will be launching the updated 3 Series sedan (G20) in India. The updated 3 series will get all the bells and whistles expected out of the 2019 variant and will come with two engine options : a tuned up 2.0 litre turbo petrol in the 330i which will produce 258 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque and a 2.0 litre diesel producing 190 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. Both engines will be mated to an 8 speed gearbox. The 3 series along with the updated all new BMW X5 is expected to launch somewhere in the mid of 2019. The new X5 will come with a 3.0 litre turbo petrol engine which produces 340 hp of power and 3.0 litre turbo diesel which produces 265 bhp of power.
The yet to be revealed new BMW X6 will also make its way to India. The SUV-coupe design will get an updated looks and instruments for the year 2019 and will share its underpinning with the X5. Like the X4, the X6 could also get assembled in India via CKD setup. Expect the new X6 to launch in third quarter of 2019.
BMW will also introduce their top of the line 8 series in India. However, this series will be limited to only in the form of M8 coupé and 8 series cabriolet form factor. Both the aforementioned will be showcased in upcoming 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. Powering the 8 series will be a 4.4 litre V8 churning out more than 600 hp of power.
Sticking to convertibles, the new BMW Z4 will make its way to Indian shores. Our market will receive a hard top folding variant with the choice of two engine options : a 340 hp, 3.0 litre six cylinder petrol and a 2.0 litre, petrol unit producing 258 hp of power output.
Aside from the new launched, BWM will also be updating its existing X1 and flagship 7 series. Both the variants will come with updated norms and features that will make them a strong rival in respective segments.
