The American cruiser power brand Harley Davison, showcased its all electric LiveWire in India a whole year after it made its debut in United States. The bike is in its production form and is a levy for the company to step onto the electric territory. The brand offered LiveWire as a pre-order in the US market earlier this month and comes with a price tag of $ 29,799 ~ Rs. 21 lakh . If launched in India, expect the Harley Davidson LiveWire to cost between Rs. 32 – 35 lakh (ex showroom, India). The brand recognises the price of the motorcycle and doesn’t expect it to sell in huge numbers.
The company claims a total range of 177 km in-between charges. The LiveWire is company’s first no clutch “twist and go” electric product and will set the trend for the future. The motorcycle also features standard cornering enhanced Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Traction Control. The systems are fully electronic and utilise the latest inertial measurement unit and ABS sensor technology. The company has been working on the electric bike project for past 5 years and defines an essential turning point in company’s future. The LiveWire brings high performance electric propulsion, evocative design, cellular connectivity for the rider and defines Harley Davidson’s future.
The LiveWire is capable of getting to 96kph in under 3.5sec with 100 percent instant torque available the instant the throttle is twisted. Following the trend of connected services, the bike comes equipped with Harley Davidson Connect Services. This pairs motorcycle riders with bikes through an LTE based Telematics Control Unit which comes with connectivity and cloud services using the latest version of the Harley Davidson app. This makes the LiveWire first North American mass produced motorcycle to come with cellar connected electric bike. The H-D connect help provide rider’s vital stats and information. Such as, battery charge and available range, nearest charging station, tampering alert and vehicle location, and service reminders.
