Hyundai is all set to debut its all electric car for the Indian market. The car in question, Hyundai Kona EV will be company’s first officially all electric drive available for the Indian customers. The Kona EV is similar to the standard Kona, with the exception to grille-less front. Internationally, the Kona electric is available with the choice of two battery operated module : a 39 kW battery pack capable of doing around 312 kms and a more powerful 64 kW with a claimed range of 482 kms in between the charges. Of the two, the former will make its debut with the powerful update may launch in future. The 39 kW serves equivalent to that of 136 hp and 395 Nm of peak torque, and has a claimed 0-100 kph time of 9.7 sec and a top speed of 155 kph.
The lithium ion battery can be charged to 80 percent under 54 mins with a powerful 100 kW DC fast chase or can be done over standard power supply which will take a little over 6 hours. When launched, the Hyundai Kona is expected to come with an ex showroom price tag of Rs. 25 lakh. The company expects a movement of about 60 units monthly.
