Lexus has released a teaser image of its lates upcoming LM MPV. Badged as the Lexus LM, it draws inspirations from Lexus’s parent company Toyota’s Alphard. The image does not reveal a whole lot but one can see the boxy silhouette with large windows, common in such breed of cars. From the sides, the LM appears to share its dimensions with the Toyota Alphard. The brand is expected to reveal the LM at the upcoming 2019 Auto Shanghai on April 16, 2019. Previously, the brand filed a patent against the initial ‘LM350’ and ‘LM350h’ indicating that the new MPV will be powered by a petrol engine and also will be offered in a hybrid setup. While the petrol engine hasn’t been confirmed, the latter might be the same 218 hp power, 2.5 litre, petrol – electric unit found under the hood of the Lexus ES 300h.
The production of the Lexus LM is likely to begin towards the end of 2019, with the car surfacing on the road in sometime in the month of June 2020. It remains to be seen wether the Lexus LM be offered in India or will Toyota introduce the Alphard via CKD route in India. Nonetheless, both the MPV’s will go up against the likes of Mercedes Benz V Class, which is pinned as the premium MPV in India.
